How long does it take?
You will see a proof within 7 days of sending your completed story form. After you approve it, printing and shipping usually take 1 to 2 weeks.
Does my child need to write the whole story?
No. You can send a finished story, a rough draft, or just an idea, and we help shape it while keeping your child's words and ideas.
Do you need photos of my child?
No. Just describe the characters in words. We never ask for photos of children.
Will my child's real name be public?
No. Your child's real name appears only in your private family edition. If you choose our public Bookshelf, that edition shows a pen name, never your child's real name, school, or town.
Is my child's book really published?
Yes. Your child's book is printed and offered for sale in our online store, where anyone with the link can order a copy, and your child earns a royalty on each one. Books don't come with an ISBN, so they aren't sold on Amazon or in bookstores. If you'd like that, add our Bookstore Edition to a Deluxe book.
How does the family royalty work?
You choose $0, $3, $5, or $10 per copy. It is added on top of the book price, so it never reduces what we charge you, and it goes to your family each time someone else orders a copy. Royalties are paid quarterly by PayPal once your family has earned at least $20. Smaller balances carry over to the next quarter.
Can relatives order copies later?
Yes. Once your book is finished, family and friends can order paperback, hardcover, or print at home copies any time.
What is the print at home PDF?
A file you print on 8.5 x 11 paper, double sided, then fold and staple into a booklet. It is delivered by email right after purchase.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not yet. We currently ship to US addresses only.
Why is there a 6 book limit?
Our shipping rates cover up to 6 printed books per order. For larger orders, email hello@kidlorebooks.com and we will help.
Can my child's book be sold on Amazon or in bookstores?
Yes, with our Bookstore Edition add-on for Deluxe paperback and hardcover books. It adds an ISBN and sets up retail listings.
What if my book arrives damaged?
Email us a photo within 30 days and we will reprint it at no cost. See our Refund Policy for details.
