Questions about counting by 2s

How do you skip count by 2s?

Start at 2 and add 2 each time: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. Each number is one more group of 2. Singing the song while counting real groups of things is the easiest way to learn the pattern.

How does skip counting by 2s help with multiplication?

Each number in the count is a fact in the 2 times table. If you count by 2s four times you land on 8, which is 2 x 4 = 8. Kids who know the count can work out any 2s fact by counting up.

Is this skip counting book really free?

Yes. Flip through it here with the song, or enter a grown-up's email above to download the printable book with its practice page.
